Hello everyone!
I would like to
share with you my version of “Christine”,
the car from John Carpenter’s horror
movie that was filmed in 1983.
I saw it three
years later, in 1986, when I was 13 years old, but I will never forget it!
This is a mixed
media project, created on a 12.5” x 12” piece of 300gsm Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolor paper. It is my entry to the Mixed Media & Art Thematic Challenge for June.
To create the
background, first I glued two pieces of corrugated cardboard for garage doors
and the beams above them. Then I roughly sketched the car inside the garage.
I applied a coat
of Art Basics Heavy Gesso Black.
Then, with a palette knife, I spread Pentart
Stone Effect Paste, in three different colors, in order to create the floor
and the brick wall. I also used a wall
stencil by Stamperia.
While the pastes
were still wet, I sprinkled Infusions
Powder “Rusty Car” and spritzed with water. Then I let everything dry
completely.
Didn’t have to
wait so much, because it was one of those hot Greek summer days!
I rubbed with Distress Oxide ink pads – “Cracked Pistachio” and “Fossilized Amber” – directly on the
corrugated cardboard and then spritzed with water to activate the ink. On top
of that, I sprayed with Tattered Angels
Glimmer Mist “Verdigris”.
I sealed
everything with Americana Acrylic
Sealer/Finisher.
I painted the car
with Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics, Americana Acrylics and Traditions.
