A La Mer - MIP July Challenge Entry

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to present you a project from scrap to art!

I made it by upcycling some blocks of corrugated cardboard I had kept from IKEA furniture packages and pieces from pizza boxes.

For this project I drew my inspiration from Prima’s moodboard for July’s Challenge and it is my entry for the challenge.

Of course, since it is summer time, the only thing that immediately comes to my mind is a beach scene!
What is more, I am in love with those little beach cabins!

To create my cabins, I cut the blocks of cardboard in different sizes. I picked a wider piece to be the base. I used the lids from pizza boxes to create the facades and the roofs of the cabins.
On the sides, I used construction tape to reinforce them and then some wood patterned paper from the French Riviera 12x12 Paper Collection

I applied Art Basics White Gesso on everything. I used Art Basics Black Gesso for the base, to make it look like weathered wood boards.

To create the sand I used some coarse sand paste I had in my stash for ages.

The assemblage is painted entirely with Prima Metallic Accents.

All the stickers and the cut outs are from the French Riviera 12x12 paper pad and I glued them on toothpicks in order to pin them to the base.

I absolutely enjoyed making this project and I really hope you like it too!

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Until next time
