Hello everyone!
Today I’m sharing
a mixed media project, with which I’m playing along at www.creativeartistemixedmedia.blogspot.com.au. It is my entry for the Creative Artiste Challenge #31.
The challenge is sponsored by DecoArt and a fabulus Mixed Media starter set will be given to the winner!
Dare to Blossom
It measures 9” x 6”
1/4, and as a base I used 2oogsm black cardstock. I also used 300gsm watercolor
paper where I glued my composition to give it a frame. I tore the edges all
around to give a distressed look.
For the quote, I
was inspired by Anais Nin’s famous quote:
“And the day came when
the risk to remain tight in a
bud
was more painful than
the risk it took to blossom.”
I started by creating some texture with a background
stencil and some crackle paste. While the paste was still wet, I tore some
pieces of chipboard elements and created my composition, to look like a flower
bouquet. I also used a piece of metal embellishment and some mini art stones.
I tried to find pictures of the chipboards on the internet, because I had them for ages and I had thrown away the packages. |
I made a mixture of gel medium and mica powder, in
copper, and went over some areas, to give extra texture.
For the butterflies, I went over a stencil with the
gel medium mixture. When it was dry, I fussy cut the butterflies and colored
them with acrylic sprays and mists.
I painted my project with Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics
and Acrylic Sprays. I also used Prima Marketing Metallic Accents.
I did some stamping and heat embossing with black
powder, which then I sanded a bit to tone down the shine.
I used Decoart Weathered Wood, around the border, to
give more interest to that film-stripe like pattern I painted.
I sealed the whole project, with Decoart Media Soft Touch Varnish.
I really hope you like it!
Thank you for visiting my blog!
Until next time
