Canvas Tote Dress for CCB Crew Summer Challenge

Hello my dear friends! Wish you all a happy Fall season.

I know I haven’t been posting any projects lately, the reason being that I was caught up with the home project which took me a couple of months to complete. Then, it was time for some family vacation hehe.

Well not exactly true, because I had prepared something for Canvas Corp Brands, but it was all hush hush till today.
Every now and then all CCB Crew Members are given a challenge and this time it was about using a piece of canvas that was sent to us in our DT packs.
Mine was a Canvas Wine Tote. It is a great item to make a gorgeous gift bag with …but I had other plans…
A while ago I had bought a wooden mannequin from IKEA and now it was the best opportunity to alter it.

As I look at my project I can clearly recognize that I was very much influenced by folk costumes of Latin America, on which the bright colors and the big hats are very distinct features. This didn’t happen intentionally, but I am very excited to discover how the different images that have been stored somewhere in my mind, at some point come forth subconsciously and influence my artwork.

So, here is my Canvas Tote Dress for CCB Summer Crew Challenge!

As you can see in the process video, or this project I used a variety of Tattered Angels Mists, in order to make a background and some interesting patterns on the dress.

I also used some Color Wash Paint and white gesso to create the effect of distressed paint on the wooden surface of the mannequin.

I really hope you enjoy it and get some inspiration for your canvas projects. Please leave me your comments or just say hi! I’d love to be in touch

Don’t go far, because it’s going to be a very beeezy and inspiring Autumn!

Thank you for visiting my blog!
Until next time,
Be Brave, Be Who You Want to Be!
