Hello everyone!
So excited, today, to present you an envelope mini album I created as a
Guest Designer for the Canvas Corp Brands Blog.
For this project, I used the 8”x8”double-sided papers from 7Gypsies Architextures Collection.
I was inspired so much by the gorgeous designs that I wanted to make the
most out of the papers! It really turned out great!
As always, I didn’t follow any standard measurements. Instead I tried to
make an album that is easy to reproduce and that you don’t end up with any
paper wasted.
For the envelopes, I used 220gsm solid brown cardstock, size A4.
For the
album’s binding I used some jute string, but binding rings can also be used.
Below follows a chart with all the steps on how to construct the
envelopes.
Step 1. On the long side of the A4 paper, score at 1/2 inch, and 4 1/2
inches. Then cut at 8 1/2 inches. This last piece will be used to create the
tags. Turn the paper on the short side and score at 1 3/4 inches, to create the
envelope’s flap. Then, on the long side again, cut one piece – starting from
the side with the 1/2 inch score line – up to the 4 1/2 inches score line and
up 1 3/4 inches.
Step 2. This is what you should be left with after doing all the scoring
and cutting.
Steps 3, 4, 5. Use an envelope punch to create a decorated edge at the
front side of the envelope and round the flap’s corners.
Step 6. Use tacky glue or double-sided tape on the 1/2 inch fold and at
the bottom and glue the envelope together.
Step 7. At the bottom 3/4 inch margin, punch one hole on each corner, in
order to place the eyelets.
Steps 8 and 9. At the center of the flap, make a small hole with a poke
tool for the brad. Make another hole, further down on the envelope, at a 1 1/2
inch distance. Cut two circles 3/4 inch diameter and use two mini brads to
place the circles on the envelope. Use some waxed thread to complete the
envelope’s closure.
Step 10. Take the piece of paper that was cut off at the beginning. Cut
it on the long side so that you are left with a tag that measures 3 1/8 x 5 5/8
inches. Round the corners.
After you have created all the envelope bases, you can decorate them
with the paper of your choice. The 8”x8”
pads are ideal for this size of envelopes, because you don’t waste any paper.
I really hope you like it!
