Hello everyone!
Today I would like to share
with you a mixed media composition, I created for Mixed Media World - MMW#23: Anything Mixed Media Goes Challenge. It
measures 12” x 9” and I used 300gsm watercolor paper from Winsor & Newton.
The challenge’s moodboard, from where I drew my inspiration, had all these icy
winter colors I love - I’m a Winter lover!
Starting with the background, I wet the whole surface and sprayed with
Media Shimmer Mister White. I sprinkled some Infusions Royal Blood and then
sprayed again with Lindy’s Sassy Sapphire. I dried up everything with a heatgun.
With a fine tip brush, I drew a few flowers, using Media Fluids Titanium
White, Americana Lamp Black and Lindy’s Sassy Sapphire. For the centers I used
Americana Espresso.
When dry, I applied a mix of Art Basics 3D Gloss and Soft Matte Gels over
the whole surface. I sprayed on top of the gel coat with Media Shimmer Mister
White, spritzed with some water and
covered everything with a crumpled shopping bag. After it was dry, I removed
the bag and there I had a wonderful icy background with beautiful texture.
Next, I randomly sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mists Turquoise and Interference
Red and again with some Lindy’s Sassy Sapphire.
I dipped some thin wool yarn into snow paste and let it dry. I cut it into
small pieces and glued them on my surface to make some 3d flowers. I also used
some skeleton leaves I had in my stash for ages! I had a vial with nail
decoration microbeads in red and black, so I glued some with Soft Matte Gel on
the centers of my flowers and on the leaves.
With a brush I colored the leaves with Lindy’s Sassy Sapphire and Media
Fluids Titanium White. I used Primary Magenta for the flowers centers. Added
some more dimension with Stamperia stencil KSG346 and Art Basics Light Paste. Then
I worked my shadows to give more depth, using a mixture of Americana Lamp
Black, Media Fluids Primary Magenta and Lindy’s Sassy Sapphire.
Lastly, I stamped with Carabelle Studio stamps SA60187 on tissue paper and
glued it with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. As a final touch I used Magenta and
White with Dutch Doobadoo stencil “Faded Dots”. I also used a Pigma Micron 08
marker to outline some details.
Here are some close ups.
I hope you enjoy it!
