Home For The Holidays Blog Hop

Hello my lovely friends!

It’s been such a long time since I blogged. Nowadays IG is grabbing all our attention. Really it feels great to be back in my blog and writing to you.

It’s been such an intense year. Lots of good vibes, loving words and support from all of you, especially through the period that I was having problems with my hands. I feel so blessed that I have you all as friends and really wish to THANK YOU one more time for your love and support. You are the power that makes my creative gears move.

Of course, it was not only a joyful year. Yep, it had its downs and I mean deep downs! I struggled with very sad emotions and I felt so depressed sometimes, that I could barely breathe. At some point I got a very bad review by a couple of people, who would supposedly help me to promote my art. They spoke so little of my work that they really broke my heart. So, a lot of that was the reason why I slowed down with my crafting. And on top of all that, two teenage daughters trying to show me that they can rule the world by themselves LOL.

Anyways, my dear friend Cathy Frailey organized this Christmas Hop and sent me an invite a couple of months ago. I found it was a great opportunity for me to be among good friends and talented ladies and also have some fun with Christmas crafting!

I decided to make a shadow box that looks like a home. I made one last year and now I’m thinking maybe I should make it a tradition haha. Each year a new Christmas Home. I’ll think about it. ;)))

Welcome all to Home for the Holidays Christmas Hop.

I had bought a set of desk organizing boxes from IKEA. It’s the LANKMOJ set and probably it’s discontinued, because I found it in the clearance section at 4 euros!
I’m not the desk organizing type. I’m just a hoarder, so the boxes were sitting there with layers of dust on them lol. One day, as I was tiding up my space to prepare for Christmas decorations, it struck me. I would make a new Christmas Home-shadow box!

The title of this Hop reminded me of Karola’s Witczak amazing paper collection “Home for Christmas” so that was it. To decorate the inside of the boxes, I used various Christmas miniature ornaments, that I buy every year when I visit the toy stores haha.

I really hope you enjoy the project and get some inspiration for your creations. You definitely want to hop on to the other ladies’ pages in this group and get loads of inspiration for your Christmas craftings. Below you’ll find the list with all the links.

For my creation I was very much inspired by an iconic element of Italian culture and that is the Venetian masks. Really very difficult to find the right words to express my admiration for this kind of art. Ornated to perfection, each one has its own history and value.

I decided to use a color palette as a base for the mask, because Italy has a great tradition in fine arts and many famous painters were born there. The effect of mirror on the palette is a symbolism, because I strongly believe that on every palette one can see the reflection of the artist it belongs to.

As I’m always interested in creating rich textures on my projects, I used a variety of pastes from the Stamperia Media Line, which gave me exactly the effects I was looking for.

At the end of this post, you will find a list of supplies that I used for this project.

Again, thank you so much for visiting and please leave me your comments. I’d love to hear from all of you and also answer to any questions you may have about the project.
